Ebu'l Vefa

(940-998) EBU'L VEFA (Buzcan 940 - Bağdat 998), özellikle VI-VII. yy.'larda ortaya konmuş olan Hint Matematik modelleri ile Sabit bin Kurra ve El Battani'nin eserlerinin ışığı doğrultusunda, ortaya koyduğu yeni trigonometri bilgileri matematik için büyk bir önem taşır. Ebu'l Vefa'nın eserleri, Orta Çağ Doğu Matematikçileri arasında olduğu kadar, kendisinden sonraki yıllarda, bu konuda araştırma yapan Batı Matematikçileri arasında da kaynak eser olarak kullanılmıştır. Özellikle küresel trigonometride sinüs konusunu bilimsel bir düşünce içinde ilk inceleyen Ebu'l Vefa'dır.
